Sorry this post is not up as early as I usually do them! Last night, I posted on Instagram that I was taking idea for today’s post and most everyone wanted an updated Makeup Routine or my latest favorites. So voila! Here we are…
This is how I store my brushes when I am not traveling. The cup is from Target & the monogram was from a set of several I had purchased from Groopdealz years ago – but you can also order them here.
1. After washing & moisturizing my (very oily) face, I use the MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation. (If your skin is dry you need this one.) I use this Sephora brush to apply my foundation – it is sold out online and in most stores. (This one may be better though, it is actually one of Makeup By Tiffany D’s favorites.) Technically it is a bronzing brush but Jade saw where some Beauty Gurus on YouTube recommended it for foundation application. I really, really like it.
*I was using Kat Von De, but my skin has been looking flaky with it lately because of my new Proactive kit.*
2. I use MAC Studio Fix Powder to set the foundation. I have tried everything (really I am not kidding) and I always go back to MAC. I recently purchased this kit of brushes from Ulta & I use the largest one to apply powder.

3. I’ve always been a bronzer girl but in the past 6 months have become a little obsessed with learning contouring techniques. So, as part of this, I use MAC’s Blush ‘Harmony‘ to sculpt cheek bones & around my hair line. This color is a Matte Blush & is a brown so it is like a bronzer. I use the Sigma Angled Kabuki to do this but I think it is a little large for my face… hoping to find a smaller one I like (maybe this one.)
4. I was recently recommended the Tarte Blush because of it’s staying power. This blush is a 12 hour wear so I couldn’t not try it. I do like it… but I’m not crazy over it. I use the the blush brush out of the kit I previously mentioned to apply this.
5. I mentioned that I am into contouring… well that also includes highlighting. I have not yet mastered the technique but I have watched video after video for months. I have tried numerous highlighting products but none have worked for me personally. While in Florida with Jade, we went to like 6 Sephoras and 5 different MAC stores! I tried a few MAC highlighting products that I didn’t like… but then I found these two products that I LOVE. So, the really pale concealer goes under my eyes in a triangle shape… then I sweep the Emphasize highlighting powder (can only be purchased a PRO stores or online) over the top. I believe this is THE key to highlighting underneath your eyes.
6. I always use the NAKED palette. Only eyeshadow I need!
7 – 10. My eye routine is pretty simple. So, I use the Revlon Long Wear Liquid liner on the top. Then I use the MAC ‘Feline’ pencil on the bottom. Next, I apply the Two Faced Mascara to my upper and lower lashes. Finally, I do my brows. MOST IMPORTANT STEP: BROWS(!!). Yes, I know my Browzings kit is gross… I have had it for TWO years now (so it has been through 2 big moves & then our month-month moves.. don’t judge!). I love that powder sooo much. After I do my brows, I go back and do one more coat of the Two Faced Mascara.

I need all the makeup help I can get, and your makeup is always flawless, so I loved this! I typically only do bronzer and blush, but I'm trying to figure out highlighting and contouring too…so I will definitely be trying your products for that!

You've got some seriously good picks in here! I for one wouldn't last a day without Tarte blush and Naked II. I am intrigued by your blush brush though! I will admit, I love Tarte blush and concealer, but I pass them both up when I'm not doing "serious" makeup because I find them both hard to blend. I wonder if that wispy looking brush you've got makes the blush more user friendly…

Tarte blush is absolutely THE BEST. I have been trying to buy that brush for awhile now, but settled for something a little cheaper from Target. Still works really well, but I want to try the Sephora brush!
Ohhh, love this post!

I love the idea of using a bronzing brush for foundation. I find that my foundation brush can be a bit streaky. Thansk for sharing!

Hi
I just found your blog from Kellys Korner.- Love your fashion & make up tips! I think we were separated at birth 😉
What are your fav perfumes? Lotions? Candles?
I am dying to get my hands on a Naked palette! My Ulta is seriously always sold out… so annoying! Also random question, how do your brown TB boots fit? I am wanting to order some but I don't know what size! I have TB flats and am curious if I should order the same size in the boots? Any ideas?
Thanks!!

I see some good stuff here! I've been trying out the too faced mascara from my Sephora lash stash, but I have a lot to get through before I pick my favorite! Btw, I love your little jewelry tray!

What a great list of products. I love the Naked Palette too. And all things MAC. 🙂
You've got some seriously smart picks in here! I for one would not last each day while not Tarte blush and Naked II. i'm intrigued by your blush brush though! i will be able to admit, i like Tarte blush and concealer, however I pass them each up once i am not doing "serious" makeup as a result of I notice them each arduous to mix. i'm wondering if that wispy wanting brush you've makes the blush a lot of user friendly

I'm 28 and this Christmas I decided I need a make-up overhaul – So like you I started watching tons of vids to see what people liked. A couple of my fav finds/suggestions so far have been #1. Apply my mac liquid concealer with a "eye" blending brush. I get way better coverage I can build on then a concealer brush. #2. Mac paint pots, I have Vintage Selection (Bare Study is on the way) and love how I can apply it all over the lid with my ring finger – easy easy easy to do in the morn to head off to work. #3. Mineralize Skinfinish (soft and gentle) my new fav for getting a bit of dewy (I have dry skin) texture and adds easily highlighting.
I have to also say I cannot live without my Studio Fix.
This is really interesting, a friend recently told me that I should apply foundation with a brush too! Your make up always looks impeccable…!

I noticed that you said you are using a new proactiv kit. How has it worked for you so far?
Urban Decay Naked 2 is in my wishlist! 😀
