BEST WARDROBE ESSENTIALS / BASICS OF 2019

I asked you guys what you wanted to see in THIS MEGA ROUND UP POST [these were the top read posts of the year all around the top asked questions!] and you all wanted a lot of ‘BEST OF’ posts from the year! Today I am sharing the best of BASICS or CLOSET STAPLES. AKA – best of leggings, jeans, shoes, etc!

BEST OF LEGGINGS  OF 2019

Okay, I feel like this will be the most popular section of this post, lol! Over the years I’ve tried lots of leggings & I’ve also gone from being pregnant / losing weight / etc. so I feel like I’ve done plenty of trial & error as far as research goes on this topic.

First things first, my long standing favorite as far as leggings is THIS style [no longer available] – this is the style I’ve worn for 4-5 years – even while pregnant. They don’t pill, they don’t stretch out, they suck in and smooth. As far as sizing goes, I wear an XS when not pregnant and a S when pregnant. I’m a 4 in denim usually. Now, the newest style has these little pockets on the sides and I’m obsessed w/those – that is what I wear more lately because I like having the pocket for my phone / keys / etc. — best part – they are on sale for $35. I am wearing them in the photo above with the Nike tee. [THIS style is maternity in case you want that fit!]

Next are Spanx leggings  — mine are probably 5 years old – if that tells you anything. I have a lot of thoughts on these to be honest. I prefer wearing them more as athlesiure or casual. I would not wear these to the gym – but I wear them to travel [seen in top left photo!]. I find that they are a bit more dressy / edgy & go well when you want to wear something cute/casual but flattering, ya know. They definitely  work to smooth & suck you in! I have voiced this before but I don’t think they are comparable to “faux *leather* leggings” — read below for the best part of those!

As far as leggings go for day to day AND working out – I love THESE Lululemon’s. I find that they don’t last as long as the Zella [years of wear] but they are super flattering, comfortable, suck you in, & feel good. I like that they don’t have seams and you can get them in all different styles.

BEST BLACK PANTS OF 2019

Okay, the best of the best are THESE faux leather leggings. [Top right photo]. These look expensive like real leather and suck you in big time! They are super flattering and can be worn with dressy tops OR casual. I don’t recommend them for working out at all. I love the brand and wear their bodysuits & basic leggings, too. Next, I love THESE faux leather pants –  I wear them a TON because they have the buttons and closer in the front! As for black denim, I like a few pairs – all affordable really for the most part. I love H&M & Madewell.

BEST DENIM OF 2019

Almost all of my favorite denim are more affordable and not designer!! Woohooo! My top favorite style is HERE. I have a few pair of these and I swear by them – they make your legs look longer/leaner & stomach flatter! [Top 2 photos] Highly recommend! I also really like A&F Mom Jeans – seen in the bottom right photo.

BEST LOUNGEWEAR OF 2019

I love Z. Supply sets & Buddy Love as far as loungewear go! I also love THESE BP joggers & hoodies!

BEST SHOES OF 2019

I did a POST last spring of my FAVORITES and I recommend checking it out! I will do this post again but updated this spring. But some of my favorite shoes are photographed above – like my Golden Goose sneakers, leopard booties, cognac wedges, & tan leather booties! I’ll put the others in the widget below!

BEST LITTLE BLACK DRESS OF 2019

This DRESS is amazing! I wrote a POST about wearing it when I was postpartum, but it still looks great and is still available!! It has ruching down the side which actually made me nervous but it ended up being so flattering! I love the neckline and the length. The dress looks like a designer piece in the way it fits and looks – but it is under $50. The material is nice and isn’t too hot, so I honestly think it will work in all seasons!
