My Favorite Luxury Watches

One question I get relatively often is about WATCHES — and what my favorite brands of watches are / what brands are worth the money. I’ve never talked about this much before but I LOVE watches – almost like I do designer handbags. A watch is something I wear almost DAILY – even in athleisure. It’s something you can invest in and depending on the brand, you could have for a lifetime. In college I loved Michael Kors and worked a part time job to save up for a Michael Kors watch – anyone else remember when they came out with the ‘boyfriend watches’?!?! I still see them and absolutely LOVE them! I think MK makes really amazing quality watches! I still have a couple of my old ones actually. And then after college I wore MK still but I fell in love with Michele Watches – which is a huge price jump. Michele Watches are amazing quality — seriously amazing! They are gorgeous and they are a watch I believe is 100% a staple investment. SO, fun fact time…. I purchased my first ever Michele watch on eBay for around $700?! I think! I wore that piece for YEARS and to this day its one I would recommend! It had diamonds around the face and looked like it had never been worn! I spent weeks searching eBay and found a jeweler / watch company on eBay who would buy authentic watches and clean them up and make sure they were authentic and re-sale on eBay at a much better price than the MSRP. Anyway, over the years I’ve purchased 2 more Michele watches [gold and mixed metals] and have really loved them. Overtime however my taste has… evolved?! John always laughs because I love having different pieces — as in I love for my designer things to be classic but also be something I don’t see everywhere, ya know?! We were on a trip together last summer and peeked at a Rolex store which is where I laid eyes on this Datejust 36 and immediately ‘fell in love’ [haha so dramatic!]. John made a comment ‘maybe for your birthday?!” and I was like “no way!”. And later on we were with different sets of friends who own Rolexes and they both had really great things to say about them. In fact, one of Johns friends had been handed down his Rolex from his FIL and he was planning on passing it down to his newborn son when the son was of a certain age. John asked a couple of months before my birthday if I wanted one and I honestly didn’t want to just get one as a ‘gift’. I’m a goal setter and I love working so I set some goals and once I met them and it was time to pull the trigger… I chickened out!! LOL. John teased me about it so much since he knows I love designer pieces but I would not pull the trigger on such a classic, timeless [lol] piece that would hold its value and be passed down to our daughter. I finally gave in MONTHS later — but I didn’t want to be around to buy it! So while I was on a work trip John ordered it for me! I don’t have a single regret and I wear it daily and absolutely adore it.

Now, I did not purchase my Rolex from eBay or used – only because I wanted it brand new so that I could take care of it and eventually pass down to Sophie. However, I wanted to share this story because of my first ever Michele watch purchase that I made on eBay! I purchased the Michele watch for probably 1/3 of the MSRP and wore it for years and years and to this day I see it everywhere and its still so beautiful and on trend- if you will. It doesn’t look dated at all which is what I love and why I am glad I chose to purchase my first on eBay. I will say eBay can be tricky to navigate to make sure you are getting an authentic piece BUT its possible. ALSO, eBay does have an Authenticated Luxury Watch section now! It’s just like the Authenticated Jewelry/Handbag sections – where the pieces have been verified by third party experts to assure authenticity- it will say ‘Authenticity Verified’ if you are looking. I’ve partnered with eBay a few times over the last year to talk about using the site to find designer / high-end / luxury items pre-loved so I wanted to share my experience with my Michele purchase today. Just this week I got an e-mail from a reader who read my blog post with eBay where I purchased a discontinued LV wallet and reviewed it and she ended up finding one as well and being over the top THRILLED with it!
