I get reader e-mails/messages regarding skincare at least once per day – it has became a hot topic here on The Sweetest Thing just because a lot of you found me through my Accutane journey. As you are all aware, I had pretty bad acne for several years. At one point in collage it was horrific – basically just huge cysts on my cheeks. And… not to mention I am a ‘picker’ and I have a hard time leave things alone. :/ But, because of my acne struggles, I have always been super obsessed with skincare. I have people ask how I got so many Sephora points and it’s honestly because I’ve had my VIB card for 12(?) years and I have tried every line of skin care that is raved about! Anyway, I’ve basically become a product junkee and I am constantly trying products and just like my recent drug store post – I am piiiiicky. I like to see changes/results/etc. and I prefer to see them quickly, lol! 🙂
Anyway! I brought all of the backstory just because I want you all know to have an idea of what my skin struggles are and why I so into trying products. I did Accutane, cleared up most of my acne, and now I am just constantly working at getting my skin smoother, plumper, and more hydrated. That is literally what I ‘shop’ for in skin care products. You all know how obsessed I am with the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate by Kiehl’s, right?! I use it right after cleansing in the morning and I have been using that for about 9 months or so?! Maybe a year! I got it with Elle last winter when I was pregnant. She and I are obsessed with the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and we actually went to the mall to get some and I ended up buying the Hydro-Plumping serum randomly and then becoming obsessed. Anyway, I recently got a package from Kiehl’s that had their new ‘Overnight Mask’ in it.. it said it was for loss of firmness and elasticity AND dryness. I get so much in PR and I travel a lot so I have gotten behind on trying things but I actually started packing this and using the mask every other night or so and I absolutely love it! I am all about a thick texture – something that feels like it is really sitting on my skin & working, ya know?! And this fit the bill – plus it is not sticky (I hate my hair sticking to my face when I sleep!) and I have other night time masks that are a little more sticky. This one is creamy and thick – but more or less melts right into your skin so you don’t feel like you are getting it all over your pillow!
I read some reviews online that say that it does help improve fine lines over time but from the get-go it works to gives your skin a smoother and more luminous look. And well!! I am ALL about the luminous look! 🙂 Accutane dried my skin out so much so I love having a little glow. The main reason I love it is because it does soften my texture and make it less noticeable! On the nights that I use it, I cleanse my face, use my essence, and then apply a thick layer of this mask [called the Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Mask] and then I have been using the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye cream around my eyes as well. It soaks in after just a couple of minutes so I can go right to bed.
Okay, this is getting long! I try to keep my post shorter and it is SO hard. I could talk all day about makeup and skin care! I just wanted to post this ASAP to share a little about it in case any of you are on the hunt for an overnight MASK!
My images were all shot at the Four Seasons in Orlando. Also, for those asking, I do not apply any self tanner to my face – I only apply it on my body. I use bronzer when I wear make-up! For those curious, my daily make-up routine is HERE! Also, I have changed my foundation since the post and you can find my latest beauty favorites HERE.
