Hello Summer! It is getting SO hot in OK already so we are really feeling summer – its coming in full force already. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to share a few shots around the hot to show how we are feeling the summer vibe around the Gemma house! <3
*If you are looking for something – I linked ALL items at the bottom of the post!*
1. Fun Shaped Ice
We thought these cactus ice trays would be fun to have around the house because we have nieces & nephews and they love stuff like this! The ice trays are available in anchors, ice cream cones, pineapples, etc! I got the cactus ones because we were having friends over and planned on having a Fiesta theme!
2. Summer Decor Details
When we first moved to Tulsa I loved decorating with pineapples – because they symbolize hospitality (kind of an interesting story about how that began here). Now, it’s kind of a trend to have pineapple decor! You’ll see below – a pineapple shaped pitcher that we use as a vase most of the time and then two small gold pineapples – I thought they were salt and pepper shakers, lol! But no, they are shot glasses! Anyway, they are still cute – I love the vintage gold.
3. OUTDOOR FURNITURE
When John and I were looking for homes, we had a hard time because in Tulsa, many of the yards are very small. We both really wanted a large space in the back because we spend a lot of time outside with Fitz and John enjoys studying outside. He actually studies every night when he gets off work (again, welcome to residency) and prefers to sit in the shade out in the back. Anyway, we were so thrilled to find our home because we loved the spacious, private backyard – we spend so much time back there. The first thing we did when we closed on the house was shop for outdoor furniture! John picked out his own haha – it isn’t very cute so I didn’t photograph it! (sorry, John!) But I wanted bistro chairs, like the ones you see in cafes in Paris. I almost died when I found them because I had a feeling they didn’t exist. We have two more upstairs on the deck – I just need to find a table to go with those! I thought these were a really good deal, too.
Also, when we were house hunting the first house we found and ‘fell in love’ with had a beautiful fire pit! It was so gorgeous and after that I was set on finding a home with fire pit. (That house didn’t have any yard or privacy so we passed on it.) I’m not sure if I’ve written this on here before but I have a large family and I am all about having a place where my mom & dad and siblings/their kids will want to come over and relax and hang out. Anyway, when we found our house we didn’t care that it didn’t have a fire pit since those can easily be added on… however, we ended up buying a portable one for right now. My family is doing July 4th here so I wanted to have it ready so that the kids can make s’mores and all!
4. PARTY DECOR
This cactus candle is also available in a flamingo, pineapple, etc. Just a fun detail if you are having a party or something!
5. LIGHTS
How fun are these pineapple lights?! They are available in tons of other shapes – I’m linking EVERYTHING below! We hung this last Friday when the residents were all coming over!
6. SUMMER SCENTS
OMG! You guys have to get a few candles from Bath & Body Works– there are 3 that I literally have to re-stock weekly. I burn them ALL week long.. I posted a photo on Instagram asking what candles to get and everyone kept saying ‘Limoncello!!’ so I got it and it’s the only candle I’ll burn in my kitchen. It’s got a clean scent and just makes the kitchen smell fresh! The other two must-haves are Tiki Beach & Endless Summer. I have the Endless Summer wallflowers all over my house and holy cow it’s so good! Neither of these scents are too strong.. both just clean and fresh smelling.
7. FRESH FLOWERS
If you follow me on Instagram you know I constantly buy flowers. I am flower obsessed – flowers are such an easy way to make your house feel like a home & also an easy way to decorate! When my vases are filled with flowers, my house just looks better. Clearly, my vases are peony-filled right now! I’m milking them for all they are worth because the season is so short. (bear w/me on this!) Even John knows if he sees them to buy them because they won’t be around for long soo pretty much anytime either of us get groceries we come home w/a few stems.
If you use the arrows below – you can see everything in the photos w/links to where they can be found online!
Also, if you like posts like this and would like to see more – leave me some ideas in the comments! <3 Love you guys!

I love it when you do home decor posts, Emily! I've been eyeing those chairs, but in gray and white since you talked about them on Snapchat, but they're sold out everywhere! Hopefully, they'll be in stock again soon. I'm with you on the peonies train. I went to Trader Joe's this past weekend and didn't find any! I hope to find some this week before they're gone for another year!
Love the post Emily! I already purchased the pineapple pitcher when you linked it in your office post. I really enjoy posts like this and you should do more of them. I know you snapped recently about shopping with the Little Design Company lady and you should post about that shopping trip and how you decorated whatever room you decorated. Or possibly a post on how you decorate your dining table when you have guests over or when throwing a party. You always link items that I end up purchasing so maybe more posts about decorating your home, etc. Again, love the post and I just ordered the pineapple shot glasses as they are just too cute not to have for decorative purposes.
Thanks – Ginny B from Rogers, AR
Ah I'm so happy I stumbled upon your page! Such cute ideas – I'm definitely getting the pineapple pitcher and those lights.

Love your home decor! Fitz looks so adorable with the pineapple lights, I had no idea pineapples were a symbol of hospitality!

Wow, interesting article. Maybe, this is of interest, I recently hired Furnishr to design my living
room. I know, I could have designed my room by myself, but I actually liked the designs on their
site. Pretty great service. They designed, delivered, and setup my new living room furniture and
decor in less than a week. Check them out if you’re interested home furniture website
