Valentine’s ‘Get Ready With Me’..

Today I’m teaming up with Nordstrom to share a little ‘Get Ready With Me’ Beauty Post – with a Valentine’s theme. Many of you are probably already aware that pink is my favorite color, so I am thrilled to be sharing some of my favorite pink beauty products, as well as some of my holy grail/can’t-live-without hair & makeup products.

Usually when I get out of the shower, I immediately put my hair in a turban to soak up excess water. While my hair is pulled out of my face (up in the turban), I start by applying my favorite moisturizer & primer. Then move on to foundation & concealer, eyeshadow primer, eyeshadow, etc. (You can view a recent makeup post here for any extra details.) By the time I’m done with those steps, I take the turban off and brush my hair with a paddle brush, then I start blowdrying my hair. I am ridiculously picky about my blow dryer, by the way. As you can see, my hair without extensions is semi long and semi thick so it is a legit commitment to sit down and try to get it completely dry. I really love my GHD blow dryer – it gets it dry rather quickly, but the best part is how shiny it is after I use this dryer! I believe in investing in a good blow dryer if you are looking to get longer, healthier hair!

Once my hair is dry (or almost dry!!), I move on to my eye makeup. My all time favorite eyeliner for the top is the Stila ‘Stay All Day’ Waterproof Eyeliner – it is easy to use & is long wear! On a day to day occasion, I won’t do winged liner, but if I am going to dinner with John or doing something special, I almost always wing my liner – and this one is excellent for getting a good wing! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Next, I use NARS Larger Than Life in ‘Via Veneto’ to line my water line. Truthfully, I can’t go without my waterline lined – it makes me look more awake!

Next is mascara… my favorite part of makeup is mascara! I do not wear false lashes or lash extensions, but I do use eyelash serum nightly to keep my eyelashes long! (I recommend this one.) I almost NEVER skip eyelash primer (I use a L’oreal one from the drug store), but this Dior primer is great if you are wanting to condition your lashes, while also priming.  All of the women in my family use the Dior primer! Finally, I apply 1-2 coats of the Dior Extase mascara — worth every cent, promise!!! I’ve always thought Dior’s best makeup product was their mascaras.

One of the last steps I do is blush… which seems weird?! But I have always made that my last step. In college, I was given a Bobbi Brown blush & I still have it & use it.. its lasted forever! (It has great pigment & stays put!) The one I am using in the pictures is ‘Pastel Pink‘ – and it’s hands down my favorite color out of all of them. I think Bobbi Brown‘s blushes are better than Mac/NARS/etc. I used THIS brush to apply my blush.

The last thing I do is curl my hair.. I am using this T3 Curling Iron which is an incredible curling iron. It is super light, which for some reason or another, makes it easier to maneuver, plus it gets pretty hot. I really can’t say a whole lot more about it because I think the photos speak for themselves – it just makes really pretty curls!

Recent Skincare post here. Most recent daily makeup post here.. I’ve switched powder & foundation since that post though.

Thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post.

  1. Love this post!! When I was first scrolling through, looking at these photos I was thinking, "Wow these photos are good, they must have been done professionally…" then I start reading and your husband even took these! He did a great job and you look beautiful!

  2. Never thought of trying an eyelash primer but holy all, after reading the reviews of the Dior one, I bought it!! Thanks for the tip.

  3. I just wanted to say how naturally beautiful you are! Sometimes, when bloggers always "present" with a full face of makeup, I wonder how much is "smoke and mirrors." But you obviously take very good care of your skin and look lovely without all that makeup. Of course, there's nothing wrong with being made up, either, just wanted to say that sometimes a more minimal, natural look is pretty too.

  4. Love this post! I decided last year to commit to growing out my once a-line bob and I totally get dead arm trying to get all of my hair dried enough to start curling it! I totally rock the towel turban during my morning routine! And don't even get me started on those lashes! I typically only wear my face makeup and mascara and I'm definitely going to have to give Dior a shot!
