Lipstick

One of the more popular questions amongst my Instagram photos has to do with my lipstick colors. Someone asked that I do a post showing all of my colors all together. The lipsticks I am sharing are my tried & true favorites. I’ve tried a variety of lipsticks – drug store, high end, etc. and the following MAC colors have proven their worth. These are highly pigmented, don’t creep outside of the lip line, & I have very small lips so I like that they give my lips a fuller appearance.

So this first one is Stila’s ‘MERLOT‘. I just purchased it this weekend and I am not sure if I love it. The color is excellent & it is definitely long wear… but it’s a bit tacky.
This is ‘UP THE AMP‘ by MAC & I wear it 4/7 days out of the week. It’s a purple color – but not obnoxious. (Seen here/here.)
1. Viva Glam I: I love this dark red. I don’t wear it quite as often as the rest but it’s nice for dressier occasions. (Seen here/here/here.)
2. Candy Yum Yum: This is a neon pink. It’s amazing, but I’m not wearing it during the winter months as much. (Seen here/here).
3. Saint Germain: A very light/pale pink… this is one that I wear very often. (Seen here/here.)
Rebel: I started wearing this one this summer, a bit premature since this is a dark purple. However, I love that it can be easily changed. Sometimes apply it with “SNOB” Lipglass to give it a a lighter berry color. This one is one that I wear often. To make the color more intense, I line my lips with the NYX ‘PRUNE’ liner. So my top 3 favorites are REBEL, SAINT GERMAINE, & UP THE AMP.
MAC’s Liner’s are a bit pricy (for me) but I’ve actually come to prefer the NYX lip liners.
Adding a gloss or a lip liner is a nice way to alter your lipstick color or make it more or less intense. SNOB is my favorite gloss to alter my colors & to wear alone.

  2. Great post, Emily! Thanks for sharing your favorites. I love the color swatches plus the sample photos of when you've worn them in the past. It really helps capture each shade to get a better idea of which ones will work for us. You always look fab in your bold lip color choices!
